The ICON-S-IL Blog
The ICON-S-IL blog is a prominent platform for Israeli public law scholars and practitioners to present and exchange ideas. Blog posts include symposiums on pressing issues in Israeli public law, such as The Covid-19 Law in Israel , The Alternating Government in a World of Unstable Constitutionalism, and The Changing Landscape of the Israeli Constitutional law. In addition, the blog serves as a platform for individual posts concerning such issues. ICON-S-IL blog posts have been cited in Israeli supreme court decisions and included in public law courses’ syllabi. The ICON-S-IL Junior Scholars prize for an Outstanding Paper in Public law in memory of Prof. Baruch Bracha
In order to promote the capacity and engagement of junior scholars within the ICON-S-IL community, the Israeli chapter grants an annual prize for an outstanding paper in public law, written by a young scholar. As of 2022, the prize is granted in memory of Prof. Baruch Bracha, one of Israel’s most prominent scholars in the fields of constitutional and administrative law, as well as human rights under extreme conditions. The prize, in the amount of 10,000 NIS, is awarded by courtesy of Prof. Brahca’s Family.
Events concerning career opportunities for young scholars:
To enhance the involvement of junior scholars, the annual conferences organized by ICON-S-IL incorporate initiatives designed to broaden the understanding and reach of aspiring young scholars pursuing an academic path. Throughout the years, these initiatives have encompassed diverse activities such as a panel discussion featuring scholars highlighting the importance of post-doctoral positions in the pursuit of a legal academic career, a panel focusing on potential career paths following the completion of a Ph.D. in public law, and a workshop centered around the publication of academic articles in law reviews, among others.
