Interview with Marta Cartabia about Building Trust in Institutions: The Case of the Italian Constitutional Court


DESCRIPTION:

ICON•S is pleased to host an online event with Marta Cartabia, former President of the Italian Constitutional Court and incoming co-President of ICON•S.
Marta Cartabia will talk to our current co-President Lorenzo Casini about her experiences as judge and the first female president of the Italian Constitutional Court.
A particular focus of the discussion will lie on the steps that the Italian Constitutional Court has taken in the recent years in order to strengthen its relationships with the “the public”, such as an increased openness to the media, the procedural changes with the amicus curiae, hearings of experts, etc. The discussion will also set put these topics in context of more general themes, including the trust in institution, the role of courts and public institution before media, and the health of modern democracies. 
This ICON•S event will have the format of an interview. There will be a possibility for the audience to ask questions. The event will be moderated by Michaela Hailbronner.
