The Palazzo Vecchio is the city hall of Florence and can be easily reached by foot from anywhere in the city centre. The Conference took place in the extraordinary Salone dei Cinquecento (Room of the 500), adorned with beautiful paintings and a ceiling made up of 39 panels designed and painted by Vasari.
University of Florence, Novoli Campus
The Novoli Campus of the University of Florence is located in the area of Novoli (Address: Via delle Pandette 32, 50127 Florence, Italy.

To reach the Novoli Campus, take bus no. 57 from Firenze Santa Maria Novella Train station (bus stop name:
Stazione Deposito Bagagli) towards Sesto Fiorentino Mille and get off at the bus stop Forlanini. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes, and it is a 3 minutes’ walk from the bus stop to the conference venue.
Bus tickets (biglietti) must be bought
before boarding and have to be stamped upon boarding the bus. Tickets are on sale at
ATAF ticket kiosks and vending machines, tobacconists, newspaper kiosks, and
some coffee bars. A taxi ride from the city centre to Novoli costs about 15 euros. To book a taxi, call 055 4242

The Conference took place in building D5
and D6 of the Novoli Campus.

European University Institute, Badia Fiesolana
European University Institute is located in the area of Fiesole (Address: Via dei Roccettini 9, 50014 San Domenico di Fiesole, Italy).
To get to the European University Institute from the city centre of Florence, you can take bus no. 7 from
Piazza San Marco (bus stop:
La Pira) and get off athe bus stop San Domenico 01. The bus ride
takes about 20 minutes.
To reach Badia Fiesolana from the bus stop
San Domenico 01, cross the road, walk 50 metres in the direction of Fiesole
(the same direction as the bus), and then take the first road to the left,
opposite the church and the cemetery (Via dei Roccettini). It is a 5-10 minutes’ walk from the bus stop to the
