Dear ICON·S Members,
I am honored to be a candidate to the ICON·S Council among such a stellar list of colleagues. I am an Assistant Professor of Law at Rutgers Law School, in the United States, and a Permanent Visiting Professor at Diego Portales Law School, in Santiago. You may find my full bio here.
I have actively participated in the ICON community, attending (and presenting at) all annual meetings except the first one, in Florence. I have published in the ICON Journal and written posts for the ICONnect Blog. My scholarship focuses on human rights and comparative constitutional law and I, surely like you, have largely benefited from the advice and feedback from members of the ICON community.
As a Chilean national based in the United States, I particularly support ICON·S’s decision to host its next meeting in the Global South and, particularly, in Latin America. I would like to further contribute to the expansion of ICON as a truly global society, with the establishment of local ICON·S chapters and the exchange of ideas —and people, of course!— among countries and regions.
In these difficult times for public law, I believe ICON·S has much to offer to the pressing debates on constitutional democracy and human rights around the world. It would be an honor to bring my own experience as a human rights lawyer and a law professor in both the US and Latin America to expand the influence of the Society.
